Why Simpson Bay
+
Simpson Bay is the vibrant heart of the Dutch side, wrapped around one of the Caribbean's largest enclosed lagoons. Marinas, beach bars and a long restaurant row sit on a strip of sand a few minutes from the airport.
About Simpson Bay
+
Simpson Bay stretches along the south-western coast of Sint Maarten, between Cole Bay and Maho. It is the busiest, most social pocket of the island: marinas on the lagoon side, a long crescent of pale sand on the sea side, and a single road threading restaurant after restaurant in between. The beach is Simpson Bay Beach itself, a wide swimming beach with calm water, beach bars and one of the longest stretches of public sand on the Dutch side.
Princess Juliana International Airport is roughly a 5-minute drive away, close enough that arriving guests can drop bags and be on the sand within an hour of landing. Maho and Mullet Bay are about 5 to 7 minutes west, Philipsburg and its Front Street shopping around 12 minutes east, and Marigot on the French side close to 18 minutes over the hill. Simpson Bay Yacht Club, IGY Isle de Sol and Palapa Marina all sit on the lagoon, which makes this the natural base for guests planning yacht charters or day trips to Anguilla and St. Barths. The dining and nightlife are the most concentrated on the island, from beach-bar afternoons at Karakter and the Buccaneer to casual evenings at Pineapple Pete or Skipjack's and sunset cocktails along the boardwalk.
Simpson Bay suits guests who want to be in the middle of things: short walks to dinner, easy access to marinas for day charters, and the option of a lively night out without driving. Travelers who prioritise quiet, privacy or expansive estate-style villas tend to look at Terres Basses or Beacon Hill instead. Coral Villas does not currently have villas online in Simpson Bay itself; the closest properties in Beacon Hill, Cupecoy and Cole Bay are all within a short drive of the Simpson Bay restaurant row and lagoon.
